LANGKAWI, Jan 19  — Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said 5G technology can guarantee that quality education is spread far and wide, connecting the unconnected in rural areas.

In his speech at the launch of the 5G Malaysia Demonstration Projects here tonight, he stressed that education is key to ensuring that technology is able to benefit society.

With 5G, he said, teaching can move beyond the confines of the classroom while students can learn and interact in different ways than people do today.

“Now, it has become more crucial than ever to develop essential skills among young Malaysians, which involves not only data-driven skills but also mental agility,” he said at the launch event at the Langkawi International Convention Centre.

“Education and the understanding of technology among students as well as those who are in the workforce cannot wait. It has to be emphasised and promoted now,” Dr Mahathir said.
