Diving into Dreams: Pandalela Rinong brings home Gold Medal from Diving World Cup

Pandalela Rinong, 28 Sarawak born is a two-time Olympic medalist and has won a total of five medals at the World Championships. Recently, she has brought home another gold from the Diving World Cup 2021 in the woman individual 10m category that was held in Tokyo, Japan on the 5th of May 2021.

Pandalela finally writes her name in the history books by winning Malaysia’s first-ever gold medal in the Diving World Cup. She has also placed 4th place with her partner Leong Mun Yee in the synchronised 10 m platform.

Pandalela started diving at the age of seven when she was selected as a state diver and continued her training at the Bukit Jalil Sports School. She graduated from University of Malaya in 2018, majoring in Sports Management Science.

Total of 5 rounds per contestant where Pandalela has beautifully make a splash with a total of 355.70 score landing her on the 1st place. The second place goes to with a score of 342.00 by Japan’s Matsuri Araiwhile Canada’s Caeli McKay made a come back to chase her scores in her last dive for a 338.55 total scoring her a bronze medal.
