UM in a statement on the 5th August 2021 informed students of the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program at the Low Dimensional Materials Research Center (LDMRC), the university’s Faculty of Science will receive full sponsorship from the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) United Kingdom (UK). MLC is jointly organized by Institute Materials Malaysia (IMM) and IOM3 UK to promote awareness of the importance of materials engineering and its sustainability in global technological and human advancement.

Farah Hannan in the statement said YPWLC was one of the platforms for her to share research projects with a wider audience. Farah Hannan said confidence and the ability to convey complex concepts in an easy-to-understand form was a very important skill, especially in research as well as academics.

She is currently a graduate research assistant (GRA) who is pursuing a PhD at the Low Dimensional Materials Research Center (LDMRC) at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Malaya. Her research project involves studying charge carrier loading in organic semiconductors, in hopes of making more efficient organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). She is also interested in learning machine learning and artificial intelligence.
