When it comes to choosing which university courses to take, it all boils down to your desired interest. Throughout the years, the video games industry is continuously blooming in Malaysia. According to Newzoo, Malaysia is ranked at number 21 in the global games revenue list, with USD$654 million (RM2.64 billion) ahead of Netherlands and Singapore.
Malaysia is also a home to over 50 international and local gaming studios including Passion Republic and Lemon Sky who worked on triple A game titles like Uncharted series and Nier: Automata. To further improve the Malaysian video games industry, Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) launched LEVEL UP, which is a video game startup initiative. Not to mention, our very own Magnus Games Studio is the first local studio to sign an international publishing deal for their monster raising-and-farming JRPG multiplayer game, Re: Legend.
With that in mind, our local video game industry is always on the lookout for fresh talents to work with on various game projects, either for indie or triple A titles, and the best way to nurture for new gaming talents is through education.
